Overview:
The DSG is built to the latest edition ofISO13709(API610)It is a type BB5horizontal,radially split, diffuser type,multistage barrel pump. The rotorstack can be either inline (all theimpellers facing towards the driver) orBack-to-back.On the smaller pumps.the inboard seal chamber and bearinghousing must be removed for cartridgeremoval. On larger pumps, the entirecartridge can be removed as anassembly to speed overhaul or re-rateturnaround time.Thousands of DSGpumps areinstalled around the world. They arefound in:

Inline and Back-to-Back Design Features and Benefits:
Inline:
Fulfills the majority of requirements for BB5 pumps with.either cast or forged barrels to meet customerspecifications.
Multivane diffusers balance radial loads. Balancingdrum takes the majority of axial thrust load. Heavy dutybearings support the rotor and carry residual thrustloads.
Smaller size pumps fitted with ring oil lubricatedantifriction bearings. Oil mist lubrication optional.
All but smallest sizes may be fitted with pressurelubricated sleeve radial, double acting tilting pad thrustbearings,lube oil systems, bearing RTD's,X-Y vibrationprobes and Keyphasor, etc.
Maximum number of interchangeable stage piecesminimizes spares parts inventory.
In direct drive applications, clearly the best selection upto stage limits. If still more head is needed, firstconsider DSG back-to-back and direct drive. If thatdoes not meet head requirement, then consider DSGinline with higher speed-using gear box or VFD
For very high head and high energy levels beyondback-to-back direct drive capabilities,DSG with semistiff rotor design (like Sulzer's HPcp,HPT pumps) canbe offered.Could justify stand-alone,single unit--nostandbv.Discussion recommended.

With up to 16 stages available, fulfills direct driveapplications that require more head than is availablefrom direct drive inline GSG
Multivane diffusers balance radial loads. Opposeoimpellers balance majority of axial thrust. Centerbushing and throttle bushing take nearly all theresidual axial thrust. Even when clearances are worn.axial and radial loads remain balanced.
Fan cooled,ring oil lubricated, sleeve/ball thrustbearing without lube systems are common up to ISO13709 (API 610) Table 9 limits, or Sulzer limitsdepending upon application. Significantly reducesinstalled cost and provides simple, reliable pumps.
When even high speed GSG with semi-stiff inlinerotor does not meet head requirements, or cannotmeet rotordynamic requirements a GSG with semistiff backto- back rotor can be offered.
To speed the repair of a GSG pump,larger sizes are designed using thatcartridge concept. The pump couplinghub,inboard bearing housing,sealchamber and hydraulic cartridge slidethrough the barrel for quick removal.Re-installation is just as fast. For evenfaster turnaround,the Sulzer patentedTwistlock design puts an end to hoursof torquing the barrel cover nuts.Forremote locations or offshore this can be especially time and cost saving.Small GSG pump barrel bore are sosmall that the coupling hub,sealchamber and bearing housing will notfit through. Those parts have to beremoved on those pumps before thecartridge is pulled.
Ntice: The assembled cartridge can be removed as one piece on larger pumps.
