The antiseptic method of railway sleepers is to soak in chemical reagents. Commonly used wood preservatives are sodium fluoride, zinc sulfate, water glass, sodium pentachlorophenate and so on. Sodium fluoride is an earlier wood preservative, it is a strong bactericidal and insecticide. Zinc sulfate is a slightly better preservative than sodium fluoride. It can not only kill bacteria, but also easily penetrate into the wood, so the antiseptic effect is better. Water glass (aqueous solution of sodium silicate) is also a commonly used wood preservative. After the sleepers are soaked with water glass, the sleepers will become harder than the original ones, which can not only prevent corrosion, but also prevent fire!
