Vitamin E, Selenium
Vitamin E and selenium is indicated for all animal, species in periods of an increased nutritional requirement for vitamin E and selenium.
Vitamin E is involved in the carbohydrates and muscle metabolism, has important functions for fertility and immunity and acts as an antioxidant on the cellular level.
In combination with selenium, vitamin E is required for the enzyme glutathione peroxidase which is necessary for the elimination, growth retardation and insufficient fertility.
Vitamin E and selenium is especially indicated in young birds for improving the immune response, in breeding stock, it is indicated in case of fertility problems such as low fertilization rate and poor hatchability. High levels of vitamin E in fattening birds improve the stability of meat products during processing and storage.
In lactating animals, vitamin E and selenium contributes to good udder health, reduction of mastitis problems and control of somatic cell counts. In case of periodically increased fat levels in poultry and pig diets with appreciable amounts of unsaturated fatty acids.
Vitamin E and selenium are also required for its antioxidative action.
