Neomycin sulphate is an aminoglycoside antibiotic. The product has good antibacterial effect on enterobacteriaceae bacteria such as Staphylococcus (methicillin sensitive strain), Corynebacterium, Escherichia coli, Klebsiella, Proteus, etc., but has poor activity against streptococcus, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterococcus, etc. in each group. Pseudomonas aeruginosa and anaerobes are resistant to this product. The bacteria have partial or complete cross-resistance to streptomycin, neomycin, kanamycin and gentamicin. The systemic use of neomycin has significant nephrotoxicity and ototoxicity, so it is only limited to oral or local use.
