Silway 5612 is a low molecular weight ethoxylated silicone surfactant.
The primary function of Silway 5612 is to produce water-in-silicone and water-in-silicone and oil emulsions with textures that range from lotion to cream, leaving a light, non-greasy after feel on the skin.
Silway 5612 is a non-diluted material and allows addition level as low as 2%. This addition level needs to be increased up to 6% when working at lower W/Si-oil ratios.
Typical Applications
Silicone emulsifier designed to prepare low viscosity water-in-silicone and water-in-silicone and organic oil emulsions
Silicone surfactant to prepare low viscosity dispersion of fillers or pigments in silicone fluids and/or organic oils
Can be used in a wide range of personal care applications such as color cosmetics, skin care, sun care
Usage
Stable emulsions can be prepared by slowly adding water to the oil phase using a variety of common mixing devices
The oil phase should be prepared first by mixing Silway 5612 with the selected low viscosity silicone fluid and/or organic fluid
High shear mixing at the end of the emulsification process helps to decrease the particle size
Key Features
Non-diluted material
Low odor
Silicone emulsifier
Formulation flexibility with a broad range of silicone and organic oil phases
Low viscosity emulsions can be achieved
Filler dispersing agent for micronized particles or pigments in silicone fluids and organic oils for UV protection or color cosmetics
