General DescriptionThis product is white crystal powder, a dilute solution with a fruit-like burnt sweet flavor. 1 g of this product is soluble in about 55 ml of water, 10 ml of ethanol, 17 ml of propylene glycol, or 5 ml of chloroform. It can melt at about 90 ºC.
UsageEthyl Maltol is a safe, non-toxic, and widely-used aromatic food additive. Only a small amount is needed to achieve a significant effect. It is a sweetening, synergistic agent which is widely used in the food industry, tobacco industry, and cosmetics industry. It has a remarkable effect on improving and enhancing the flavor of food, and it also increases the sweetness of certain food. Ethyl Maltol also could effectively extend the food expiration date.

Ice cream, frozen products, and ketchup: 5-15 mg/kg
Chocolate, candy, and dessert: 5-50 mg/kg
