Epimedium (scientific name: Epimedium brevicornu Maxim.) perennial herb, plant height 20-60 cm, rhizome thick and short, dark brown, two times three compound leaves basal and cauline, with long stalks, leaflets papery or Thick paper, with spines on the leaf margin, white or light yellow flowers, flowering period from May to June, and fruiting period from June to August.
Epimedium grows in the undergrowth, ditch bushes or damp places on hillsides, at an altitude of 650-3500 meters. It is cultivated in Shaanxi, Gansu, Shanxi, Henan, Qinghai, Hubei, Sichuan and other regions of China.
The whole herb of Epimedium is used medicinally.
