| What is marigold flower extract? Marigold is the main raw material for the extraction of lutein and carotenoids, in which the average yellow pigment content is not less than 12 grams per kilogram. This pigment is a pollution-free natural pigment. Lutein, also known as "phytolutein", co-exists with zeaxanthin in nature. Human eyes contain high amounts of lutein and zeaxanthin, but these two elements cannot be manufactured by the human body and must be supplemented by foods containing lutein and zeaxanthin. Studies have shown that lutein plays a great role in maintaining normal vision and preventing eye diseases, such as age-related macular degeneration, ARMD, cataracts and so on. Adequate intake of carotenoids may also reduce the risk of colorectal cancer and heart disease. |
