Zanthoxylum bungeanum has a long history of production and consumption in China. In the book of Songs - Ode to Zhou, there is a saying that "there is a sweet smell of pepper, and Hu Kao is peaceful", which means that the fragrant pepper can make people live a long and safe life.
According to Li Shizhen's Compendium of Materia Medica, "Zanthoxylum bungeanum has strong teeth, dark hair, bright eyes, long-term service, good color, aging resistance, aging growth and healthy spirit."
Alias: Sichuan pepper, red pepper, Sichuan pepper, Dahongpao. The plant is a deciduous shrub. When the fruit is mature, it is red to purplish red. The peel is called Jiaohong, and the seed is called JiaoMu. They are all Chinese medicinal materials, which are often used as condiments at home.
