Sodium alginate is a natural polymer extracted from Marine algae (kelp), which is beige or light yellow powder. It is safe, non-toxic, odorless and tasteless. It is highly hydrophilic, easily soluble in water, and forms a uniform and transparent viscous liquid, insoluble in ethanol, e thyl ether, ch loroform and other organic solvents.
