Sodium hydroxide can be used as alkaline cleaning agent in water treatment, soluble in ethanol and glycerol; Insoluble in propanol and ether. It also has a corrosive effect on sodium carbon at high temperature. Disproportionation reaction with chlorine, bromine, iodine and other halogen. Neutralizes with acids to produce salt and water.
