Product Description

The necessity of using threonine in feed

Threonine is usually the second or third limiting amino acid in pig feed, and the third or fourth limiting amino acid in poultry feed. With the widespread application of lysine and methionine synthetic products in formula feed, it has gradually become the main limiting factor affecting the production performance of livestock and poultry. Especially when lysine is added to low protein diets, threonine becomes the first limiting amino acid for growing pigs. If threonine is not used in feed, the regulation of threonine in feed can only rely on protein raw materials, which not only contain threonine but also other essential and non essential amino acids. The result of using protein raw materials instead of threonine to regulate amino acid balance is that the amino acid balance of feed cannot be improved as much as possible, and the waste of a large amount of essential amino acids cannot be further reduced, The formula cost of feed cannot be further reduced. The use of threonine can reduce the waste of essential and non essential amino acids, or in other words, it can reduce the crude protein level of feed. Its principle is the same as using lysine hydrochloride. The crude protein level of feed can be reasonably reduced by using crystalline amino acids, and animal production performance will not be damaged, but may be improved instead.

As an amino acid used in feed, threonine is widely used for adding piglet feed, breeding pig feed, broiler feed, shrimp feed, and eel feed. It has the following characteristics:
(1) Adjustable amino acid balance in feed to promote growth;
(2) Can improve meat quality;
(3) Can improve the nutritional value of feed ingredients with low amino acid digestibility;
(4) Can produce low protein feed, which helps to save protein resources;
(5) Can reduce the cost of feed raw materials;
(6) It can reduce the nitrogen content in the feces and urine of livestock and poultry, as well as the concentration and release rate of ammonia in livestock and poultry houses.

Dosage of threonine added to feed
The demand for threonine should be determined based on the demand for lysine. In production practice, when the demand for lysine and methionine is met, a diet should be formulated according to the digestible ratio of threonine and lysine in the ileum, in order to improve the quality of formula feed and animal production level. Below is our recommended dosage of threonine.
