After being pressurized by the water pump at the bottom of the tower, the absorption liquid is sprayed down from the upper part of the tower through the spray pipe and spray head installed inside the tower, and then returned to the bottom of the tower for recycling. The purified exhaust gas meets the requirements of the local emission standards through the outlet pipe at the top of the tower, and reaches the discharge. The spray tower usually handles more acid mist exhaust gas, so it is also called acid mist exhaust gas tower.
It can also deal with ammonia (NH3) hydrogen sulfide waste gas, VOC organic waste gas, domestic garbage waste gas, waste combustion waste gas or dust.
When the dusty waste gas or oily waste gas passes through the spray tower body, the appropriate position (depending on the design) inside the tower body sprays liquid medium, some of which are lye and some of which are sulfuric acid solutions. If the waste gas contains acidity, choose lye spray to neutralize the acidity; if the waste gas contains alkalinity, choose sulfuric acid solution to absorb it. The specific choice of acid-base solution depends on the nature of the exhaust gas and the company's own conditions. Exhaust gas without acid and alkali but containing oil and dust can be treated by spraying with circulating aqueous solution. When the exhaust gas enters from the bottom of the tower body, it contacts the spray medium sprayed from the spray tower. After contact, the exhaust gas or oil pollution is wrapped by water droplets, and the water droplets wrapped in pollutants collide again with an increased surface area and increased gravity. When the gravity increases, the water droplets that wrap the pollutants fall into the bottom of the spray tower under the influence of gravity, the heavier pollutants sink to the bottom of the tower, and the lighter pollutants float on the surface of the circulating water body.

It is mainly used for the pretreatment of harmful waste gas and viscous gas. It can effectively separate the solids in the gas. The spray tower is the main equipment for boiler flue gas wet desulfurization with limestone.
Limestone or limestone powder is used as absorbent, and limestone blocks or limestone powder are made into limestone slurry. The limestone slurry is pumped into the absorption tower to fully contact with the flue gas, so that SO2 in the flue gas reacts with CaCO3 in the slurry to form CaSO4.
Air is blown in from the slurry pool at the lower part of the absorption tower to oxidize CaSO3 to CaSO4. After CaSO4 reaches a certain saturation, it crystallizes to form CaSO4•2H2O.
The gypsum slurry discharged from the absorption tower is concentrated and dehydrated to make its water content less than 10%, and then sent to the gypsum room for stacking by conveyor. After the desulfurized flue gas passes through the demister to remove the mist droplets, it is discharged into the atmosphere through the chimney.
