Short Introduction For Lyme Disease Test
The Lyme Disease Antibody Lyme Ab Test is a lateral flow immunochromatographic assay for the qualitative detection of Borrelia burgdorferi (Lyme Ab) in dog's serum, plasma and whole blood specimen.
 

Principle For Lyme Disease Test

The Canine Lyme Disease Rapid Test is based on sandwich cross flow immunochromatography.The test card has a test window for observing the test run and reading the results. The test window has an invisible t (test) area and a C (control) area.
The treated sample is coated into the sample hole on the device, and the liquid flows across the surface of the test strip to react with the pre coated recombinant antigen of Lyme disease.If there is Borrelia antibody in the sample, a visible T-line will appear.
Line C should always appear after the application example, which indicates a valid result.
In this way, the device can accurately indicate the presence of Borrelia antibody in the sample.


Symptoms
The most common symptoms are: recurrent lameness due to joint inflammation, fever, feeling of general malaise. Many dogs with Lyme disease experience periodic lameness due to joint inflammation. Sometimes the lameness lasts only 3-4 days, but recurs after a few days to a few weeks, possibly on the same leg or a different leg. This is called "switching lameness." One or more joints may also be swollen, warm, and painful.

Other symptoms: In some cases, Lyme disease can also cause symptoms such as depression, swollen lymph nodes, lack of appetite, stiffness in walking, arching of the back, sensitivity to touch, and difficulty breathing.
Lyme disease can cause more serious complications.
Including damage to the kidneys and, more rarely, heart or neurological disorders, Lyme disease can sometimes lead to glomerulonephritis-inflammation and accompanying dysfunction of the glomeruli, a type of blood filter.

Ultimately, kidney failure can occur when the dog begins to experience symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, weight loss, increased urination and thirst, and abnormal fluid buildup that can manifest as swelling in the extremities.


TEST PROCEDURE For Lyme Disease Test

• Allow all materials, including specimen and test device, recover to 15-25ºC before running the assay.
• Take out the test card from the foil pouch and place it horizontally.
• Collect 20μL of the prepared specimen into a vial of assay buffer and mix well. Then drop 3 drops (approx. 120μL) of the diluted sample into the sample hole "S" of the test card.
• Interpret the result in 5-10 minutes. Result after 10 minutes is considered as invalid.

• Positive (+): The presence of both "C" line and zone "T" line, no matter T line is clear or vague.
• Negative (-): Only clear C line appear. No T line.
• Invalid: No colored line appears in C zone. No matter if T line appears.
