Physical and chemical properties:This product is white crystalline or crystalline powder, no odor, slightly sweet after turning pungent, no change in the air, above 76 ºC can be atmospheric sublimation. Phenol and carbon dioxide are easily decarboxylated by heating at atmospheric pressure. The aqueous solution of phenol and carbon dioxide is acidic and purple when it meets FeCl3. This product is slightly soluble in water, soluble in boiling water, easily soluble in ethanol or ether, slightly soluble in chloroform.
Uses:
1.In the pharmaceutical industry, salicylic acid itself is used as a disinfectant and antiseptic for local keratinization and skin fungal infection.
2.As a pharmaceutical intermediate, it is used in the production of Zhitongling, diuretic, acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin), sodium salicylate, salicylamide, glibenclamide, niclosamide, phenyl salicylate, ethyl p-hydroxybenzoate, bismuth hyposalicylate, sulfasalazine, etc.
3.In the dyestuff industry, it is used to produce direct yellow GR, direct light resistant gray blchemicalbook, direct light resistant Brown RT, acid mordant Brown g, acid mordant Yellow GG and other dyestuffs.
4.Various esters of salicylic acid can be used as perfume. For example, methyl salicylate can be used as oral perfume for toothpaste, other flavoring and food perfume.
5.In rubber industry, it is used to produce anti coking agent, ultraviolet absorber and foaming agent.
6.Salicylic acid can also be used as curing agent of phenolic resin, preservative of textile printing and dyeing size, expanding agent (dye promoter) of synthetic fiber dyeing, etc.
