Perlite, Ultra-Lightweight Aggregate for commercial hydroponics, seed starting and plant rooting
Perlite is not a trade name but a generic term for naturally occurring siliceous rock. The distinguishing feature which sets Perlite apart from other volcanic glasses is that when heated to a suitable point in its softening range, it expands from four to twenty times its original volume.
Character: Non-toxic, flavorless, lightweight, corrosion resisting, netural PH 6.5-7.5 etc.
Size: 100mesh, 200mesh, 0.15-1.18mm, 1-3mm, 2-4mm, 3-6mm, 4-8mm etc.

The benefit of perlite for plants.
Expanded Perlite is a common soil amendment that helps plants growth. The increase in drainage helps prevent overwatering and nutrient buildup, while increasing root penetration and oxygen availability.
Expanded Perlite is suited perfectly for clones. New roots can penetrate the lightweight structure of perlite with little effort. Faster root growth means a quicker turnaround from cutting to growing plant. Expanded Perlite drains so well there is little chance of drowning your cuttings.
How to use the perlite for plants?
Expanded Perlite is an excellent addition to vermiculite and improves the structure of organic soils. Expanded Perlite is neutral and will not alter nutrient EC or water pH. Many nurseries add perlite to soil to decrease overall weight, which makes handling potted plants easier. This is also an advantage for the grower who moves their plants to take advantage of lighting conditions
Directions:
Potting Soil: -- Mix 30% to 50% by volume with organic substrates such as coir, peat moss, compost, or soil. Add fertilizer appropriate for the plant.
Hydroponics: -- Use 100% or mix 50% by volume with sterile substrates such as coco peat (coir).
Root Cuttings: -- Use 100% or mix 50% by volume with coco peat or peat moss. Saturate mixture with water. Make hole in mix and insert cutting then press substrate around cutting. Root stimulator may be helpful on some cuttings. Keep mix wet and out of sunlight.
Seedlings: -- Mix 30% to 50% with coco peat or peat moss. Place seed on top of mix and cover with Hortiperl Perlite. This mix may be used for trays or for seeding beds directly on the ground. Keep seedling trays and beds covered with indirect sunlight. When seed is well established, transplant to final location.
Bulb -- Add bulbs to 100% perlite and store in a cool dry place away from sunlight.
