Lignin can be divided into two categories: guaiacyl lignin and guaiacyl (V)- syringyl (S) lignin. The former exists in coniferous forest and some cryptophytes, and the content is 24-34% and 15-30% respectively. The latter exists in broad-leaved forests, with a general content of 16-24%, tropical broad-leaved forests of 25-33%, some special needles of 23-32% and grasses of 17-23%.
