P-Methoxybenzoicacid, also known as p-anisic acid, 4- anisic acid and anisic acid, is colorless needle-like crystal at room temperature, which is soluble in ethanol, ether and chloroform, slightly soluble in hot water and hardly soluble in cold water. P-methoxybenzoyl chloride, an intermediate of amiodarone, was prepared by chlorination of thionyl chloride. It can be used as pharmaceutical intermediate of solanasitan, and also as perfume and preservative.
