Description
 Liquid Nitrogen Generator
Liquid Nitrogen Generator is the machine can produce liquid nitrogen or oxygen machine .
The liquid can be into gas with low temp.

Physical properties[edit]

The diatomic character of the N2 molecule is retained after liquefaction. The weak van der Waals interaction between the N2 molecules results in little interatomic interaction, manifested in its very low boiling point.

The temperature of liquid nitrogen can readily be reduced to its freezing point −210 °C (−346 °F; 63 K) by placing it in a vacuum chamber pumped by a vacuum pump. Liquid nitrogen's efficiency as a coolant is limited by the fact that it boils immediately on contact with a warmer object, enveloping the object in an insulating layer of nitrogen gas bubbles. This effect, known as the Leidenfrost effect, occurs when any liquid comes in contact with a surface which is significantly hotter than its boiling point. Faster cooling may be obtained by plunging an object into a slush of liquid and solid nitrogen rather than liquid nitrogen alone.

Handling

As a cryogenic fluid that rapidly freezes living tissue, its handling and storage require thermal insulation. It can be stored and transported in vacuum flasks, the temperature being held constant at 77 K by slow boiling of the liquid. Depending on the size and design, the holding time of vacuum flasks ranges from a few hours to a few weeks. The development of pressurised super-insulated vacuum vessels has enabled liquid nitrogen to be stored and transported over longer time periods with losses reduced to 2% per day or less.

Liquid nitrogen is a compact and readily transported source of dry nitrogen gas, as it does not require pressurization. Further, its ability to maintain temperatures far below the freezing point of water makes it extremely useful in a wide range of applications, primarily as an open-cycle refrigerant, including:

  • in cryotherapy for removing unsightly or potentially malignant skin lesions such as warts and actinic keratosis
  • to store cells at low temperature for laboratory work

Industrial use

In industrial production, liquid nitrogen obtained by compressed liquid air fractionation can be used as deep refrigerant. Because of its chemical inertia, it can directly contact with biological tissue and freeze immediately without destroying biological activity, so it can be used as deep refrigerant

(1) Rapidly freezing and transporting food, or making ice products;

(2) Research on low temperature physics;

(3) Demonstrate the low temperature state in science education. At room temperature, a soft object soaked in liquid nitrogen will be as brittle as glass;

(4) Provides the temperature required for high temperature superconductors to show superconductivity.

(5) It can be used as refrigerant to quickly freeze biological tissue to prevent tissue damage.

(6) It is used for industrial nitrogenous fertilizer.

(7) For chemical detection.

Liquid nitrogen is a liquid with a low temperature of - 196 ºC and is obtained from nitrogen which occupies more than 70% of the air. Inert, colorless, non-toxic, volatile, very wide range of use. Liquid nitrogen is easy to volatilize at low temperature, so it is generally stored in a special container liquid nitrogen tank.

According to the use of liquid nitrogen purity classification, often divided into food grade liquid nitrogen, industrial grade liquid nitrogen. The purity of food grade liquid nitrogen is high, because considering the safety of human consumption, the purity reaches 5 9, that is 99.999%. The purity of industrial grade liquid nitrogen is not as high as that of food grade liquid nitrogen.

In the process of using liquid nitrogen, people often think that the safety is not good, but because of the low temperature of liquid nitrogen, it will gasify immediately when it meets air, so the safety is still guaranteed. Just pay a little attention to safety, and there should be safety awareness in any case.

Applications of Nitrogen
Nitrogen is very important gas for various industries including chemical where it is used for making fertilizers, nitric acid, nylon, dyes, and explosives. Being known for its inerting properties, nitrogen is ideal for preservation of food and making of diodes and transistors. The non-reactive gas is used on a large scale in annealing stainless steel and various other products used in the generation of steel. Annealing is a heat treatment that making it easier to work on steel. It is used for freezing foods and helping them to maintain texture, flavor, color and moisture. Numerous other applications include:

Storage of sperm, eggs and other cellular materials
Beverage industry (coca cola ,juice bottling )
Glass industry
Freezing seafood
Nitrogen refinery
Tunnel freezin

Liquid nitrogen is a colorless, odorless, non-flammable, non-corrosive and extremely cold element that finds a lot of applications including research and development.

Liquid Nitrogen Liquefaction :

Liquid Nitrogen Plant (LNP) draws out Nitrogen gas from the atmospheric air and then liquefies it with the help of Cryo cooler.

There are two methods through which Nitrogen can be liquefied:

Pressure Swing Adsorption with Cryo generator.
Distillation of liquid air.
Working principle of Liquid Nitrogen Plant

In a Liquid Nitrogen plant, the atmospheric air is first compressed to 7 bar pressure into compressor. This high temperature compressed air is then cooled in  the external refrigeration system.  Then, the cooled compressed air is passed through moisture separator to trap the moisture from the air. This dry compressed air is then passed through a bed of carbon molecular sieves where Nitrogen and Oxygen are separated from the air. Separated Nitrogen is then allowed to get through Cryo cooler which cools the gaseous Nitrogen to a liquid state at the boiling point of Nitrogen (77.2 Kelvin). Finally, the Liquid Nitrogen gets collected in Dewar's vessel where it gets stored for several industrial purposes.

Uses of Liquid Nitrogen
Liquid Nitrogen is used in many applications because of its very low temperature and low reactivity. Some of the common applications are:

It is used in cryo therapy to remove skin abnormalities
Serves as a source of an extremely dry gas
Freezing and transporting of food products
Cooling of superconductors like vacuum pumps, and other equipment
Cryo preservation of blood
Cryo preservation of biological samples like eggs, sperms, and animal genetic samples.
Preserving of animal's semen
Branding of cattle
Cryosurgery (removing dead cells from the brain)
Quick freezing of water or pipes to let workers work on them when valves are not available.
Protects materials from oxidization.
The shielding of materials from oxygen exposure.
Other applications that include creating Nitrogen fog, making ice-cream, flash-freezing, flowering that shatters when tapped onto a hard surface.
