Description
Aluminum sulfate is one of the basic varieties of inorganic salts, mainly used as papermaking sizing agent and flocculant for drinking water, industrial water and wastewater treatment. It is also used as a raw material for the production of artificial gemstones and other aluminum salts, such as ammonium alum,

and aluminum stearate. In addition, it is also widely used as oil clarifying agent, petroleum deodorizing and decolorizing agent, concrete waterproofing agent and rainproof cloth raw material, mordant, leather tanning agent, pharmaceutical astringent, wood preservative and foam fire extinguishing agent. In terms of its production scale, it ranks third in my country after Glauber's salt and sodium silicate.

The raw materials for the production of aluminum sulfate are bauxite, kaolin, coal gangue, shale, aluminum hydroxide, etc., mainly bauxite. There are two main methods of using bauxite to produce aluminum sulfate in industry: one is the roasting atmospheric reaction method. After the bauxite is crushed, it is roasted at 700 ~ 800 ° C to dehydrate the bauxite and enhance the activity of the reaction with acid. The calcined bauxite is reacted with sulfuric acid with a concentration of 55% to 60% in the reactor to obtain aluminum sulfate.

The disadvantage of this method is the high energy consumption. The second is the raw powder pressurized reaction method, which directly reacts bauxite and sulfuric acid under pressurized conditions. The raw powder pressurized reaction method has low energy consumption and is a common method in industrial production.
