Astragalus Extract is the root extract of leguminous plant Astragalus mongolicus.Astragaloside IV can significantly reduce blood glucose, glycosylated hemoglobin and urinary protein, and reduce AGEs in renal cortex and serum, indicating that astragaloside IV has antioxidant effects, and has an inhibitory effect on aldose reductase, as well as inhibiting mesangial cell proliferation and reducing renal hypertrophy. Astragaloside IV can be used in the prevention and treatment of diabetic nephropathy.
