Product Description

Gallic acid (GA) is a component of hydrolyzable tannins, also known as gallic acid.
It is white or light brown needle crystal or powder.  Melting point 235-240 ºC (decomposition).  When heated to 100-120 ºC, it loses crystal water, and when heated to above 200 ºC, it loses carbon dioxide and generates pyrogallic acid (ie, pyrogallol).  Soluble in hot water, ether, ethanol and glycerol, insoluble in cold water, insoluble in benzene.
