TechStar MOH series magnetic microspheres are designed for nucleic acid extraction and purification, they have excellent suspension, redispersibility and magnetic response, and are highly compatible with different manufacturers' nucleic acid extraction reagents and automated instruments (e.g. KingFisher Flex, Beckman Biomek FX, TechStar YC796). The MOH series magnetic microspheres are particularly effective for the isolation of RNA and DNA from virus and bacteria in samples such as blood, swabs, urine, and viral transport media (VTM).


Working Principle

The use of magnetic microspheres for nucleic acid extraction is an advanced nucleic acid extraction method, which is a perfect combination of
nanotechnology and biotechnology, greatly simplifies the operation process of nucleic acid extraction without the need for extensive manual operation and
exposure to toxic reagents such as phenol/chloroform.
TechStar MOH series magnetic microspheres have a superparamagnetic Fe3O4 core with a SiO2 layer modified on the outer surface. By controlling the size
of microspheres, the thickness of SiO2 on the surface, the type of silicon hydroxyl groups (-SiOH) and the density of silicon hydroxyl groups, the
microspheres provide different nucleic acid enrichment properties. Under certain conditions (e.g. high salt concentration, low pH), MOH series magnetic
microspheres can specifically bind to nucleic acids in solution through hydrophobic, hydrogen bonding and electrostatic interactions, but not to other
impurities (e.g. proteins), and after proper washing, they can be rapidly eluted in low salt solution to release nucleic acids. It is easy to operate and is very
conducive to the automation and high throughput extraction of nucleic acids.
