It is mainly used for two purposes, as a raw material in the manufacture of polyester fibers and for antifreeze formulations.
1. MEG is used in the production of polyester, polyester resin, moisture absorption agents, plasticizers, surfactants, synthetic fibers, cosmetics and explosives, and used as dyes, inks and other solvents, preparation of engine antifreeze agent, gas dehydrating agent, manufacturing resin, can also be used for cellophane, fiber, leather, adhesive wetting agent.
2. Mono ethylene glycol can produce synthetic resin PET, fiber grade PET is polyester fiber, bottle chip grade PET for making mineral water bottles and so on. Also can produce alkyd resin, glyoxal, also used as antifreeze. In addition to the use of automotive antifreeze, but also used for industrial cold transport, generally referred to as refrigerant.
3. ethylene glycol methyl ether series products are excellent performance of advanced organic solvent, as printing ink, industrial cleaning agent, coating (nitrocellulofiber paint, varnish, enamel), copper coated plate, printing and dyeing solvent and diluent.
4. MEG can be used for the production of pesticide intermediates, pharmaceutical intermediates and synthetic brake fluid and other chemical products of raw materials.
As electrolytes for electrolytic capacitors, chemical fiber dyeing agent for leather, etc.
5. used as textile auxiliaries, synthetic liquid dyes, chemical fertilizers and oil refining in the production of desulfurizer raw materials.
