Propylparaben is an organic compound with the molecular formula C10H12O3. Colorless small crystals or white powder. Almost insoluble in cold water. Odorless, slightly astringent. It is esterified by p-hydroxybenzoic acid and n-propanol in the presence of sulfuric acid, then neutralized, washed with water, dried and refined into finished product. Mainly used as a preservative for food, cosmetics, etc.
SpecificationApplication1. It has a wide range of antibacterial effects on mold, yeast and bacteria, and has been used as a food preservative in the production of soy sauce and pickles.
