Povidone iodine is a porous complex formed by the combination of elemental iodine and polymer carrier. Povidone acts as carrier and solubilizer. Normal temperature is yellow brown to brown red amorphous powder. Slight odor, soluble in water or ethanol, aqueous solution is acidic. Povidone iodine solution has no shortcomings of iodine tincture, light coloring, easy elution, little mucosal irritation, no need for ethanol deiodination, no corrosion, and low toxicity.
Application:
(1) Broad-spectrum germicidal action
(2) Skin and equipment disinfectant before injection or surgery.
(3) Anti-infection treatment for oral, gynecological, surgical, skin, etc.
(4) Disinfects family tableware and apparatus.
(5) Sterilizes, disinfects in the foodstuff industry, breeding aquatics, also prevents animal diseases.
