Description
Inositol powder is a water-soluble vitamin, one of the B vitamins, and a component of phospholipid membranes. Inositol is a substance found in food and has a structure similar to glucose. Pure inositol is a stable white crystal, soluble in water and sweet, resistant to acid, alkali and heat. In animal cells, it is found mainly as phospholipids, sometimes called inositol phospholipids. In cereals, it often combines with phosphoric acid to form hexaphosphate, or phytate, which can combine with calcium, iron and zinc to form insoluble compounds that interfere with the body's absorption of these compounds. Inositol improves cellular nutrition, promotes development, increases appetite, and restores strength.
