[INTENDED USE]
The HIV 1/2/O Antibody Triline Rapid Test Cassette is a rapid
chromatographic immunoassay for the qualitative detection of antibodies to
Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) type-1, type-2 and Subtype O in
Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma to aid in the diagnosis of HIV.
 
 
 
[PRINCIPLE]
 
The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) is a retrovirus that infects cells of
the immune system, destroying or impairing their function. As the infection
progresses, the immune system becomes weaker, and the person becomes
more susceptible to infections. The most advanced stage of HIV infection is
acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It can take 10-15 years for an
HIV-infected person to develop AIDS. The general method of detecting
infection with HIV is to observe the presence of antibodies to the virus by an
EIA method followed by confirmation with Western Blot. HIV 1/2/O Antibody
Triline Rapid Test Cassette is a simple, visual qualitative test that detects
antibodies in human Whole Blood/Serum/Plasma. The test is based on

Positive: *Two lines appear. One colored line should be in the control
region (C), and another apparent colored line adjacent should be in the test
region (T).
Negative: One colored line appears in the control region (C). No line
appears in the test region (T).
Invalid: Control line fails to appear. Insufficient specimen volume or
incorrect procedural techniques are the most likely reasons for control line
failure. Review the procedure and repeat the test using a new test cassette.
If the problem persists, discontinue using the lot immediately and contact
your local distributor.
