COMPOSITION PER ML: Gentamycin sulphate (equivalent to 100,000 IU gentamicin base)
PROPERTIES:
Gentamyin is a broad spectrum bacterial antibiotic acts by interfering with the synthesis of bacterial proteins.
It is active against most gram-negative and positive bacteria isolated form domestic animals such as: pseudomonas spp. Salmonella spp. and mycoplasma spp.
INDICATIONS:
Infections caused by microorganisms susceptible for gentamicin, like occur ring in uro-genital infections, respiratory infections, skin and tissue infections, uterus infections and gastrointestinal infections.
DURATION OF TREATMENT:
In severe infections one injection every 12 hours, while in young animals and during first week of life treatment is repeated at half dose.
Do not inject more than 3-4 injections if improvement is not noted with in 24-48 hours.
CONTRA-INDICATIONS:
Do not use in animal with impaired renal function.
It should not be combined with other drugs known to induce ototoxicity gentamycin should be restricted to severe infections caused by susceptible gram-negative bacteria.
Do not overdose.
ADMINISTRATION & DOSAGE:
Gentamycin can be used in all animal species by intramuscular, subcutaneous or slow intravenous injection.
The recommended dose is 2 mg/kg body weight or 0.5 ml/12.5 kg body weight. Poultry........0.1 - 0.2 ml/2 kg body weight.
Horses, cattle ….2 - 4 ml per 100 kg body weight Foals, claves ….2 -3 ml per 100 kg body weight. Dogs, cats.....0.15 - 1 ml
These doses preferably to be given twice on the fist day and afterward once daily.
WITHDRAWAL TIME: Meat should not be used for human consumption during treatment or for 7 days thereafter. Milk should not be used for human consumption during treatment or for 3 days thereafter.
Keep out of reach of children.
