This instrument is used to determine the shear strength of soil, usually using four samples, respectively under different vertical pressures to apply horizontal shear force for shear, to find the shear stress at the failure of the soil sample, and then according to Coulomb's law to determine the shear strength coefficient, internal friction angle and cohesion.
