Description
IntroductionEAS* emulsified acid is a viscous, highly retarded HCL system designed to overcome acid penetration problems while stimulating reservoirs above 75 degF. Standard hydrochloric acid reacts very quickly in carbonate formations. The reaction is so rapid in high temperatures that it is impossible for acid to penetrate, or wormhole, more than a few inches into the formation. In such cases, the acid is rendered ineffective in stimulation the well. The HT EAS acid retards the acid reaction rate, enabling deep, live-acid penetration. This oil-external emulsion is formed with a 70:30 HCL-to-Oil ratio, stabilized with an emulsifier. HCL concentrations ranging from 7.5 to 28% may be used in ether a batch or continuous mix system.Physical Properties and HazardsForm | S.G. | Water Solubility | Health Hazard | Physical Hazard | pH |

Chemical Properties and ApplicationEmulsifier is a good surface-active agent for stabilizing acid-internal and oil-external emulsions. It is applicable at wide temperature range from 60 to 350 degF.
Typical acid-to-oil ratio for Emulsifier application is 70/30 by weight percentage. Higher acid-to-oil ratio will increase friction pressure and lower ratio will decrease acid strength and dissolving capacity.
Emulsifier is compatible with most additives in acid stimulation systems. However, additives such as non-emulsifying agents and corrosion inhibitors have to be laboratory tested before its use together with Emulsifier.
