HOW IT WORKS
Luteinizing hormone (LH) is a hormone that periodically changes with the menstrual cycle of a woman.David One Step semi-quantitative ovulation test works by detecting the increase (surge) in a hormone called luteinising hormone (LH) in your urine. The LH surge occurs approximately 24-36 hours prior to the release of an egg from your ovaries - a process known as ovulation. You are at your most fertile on the day your LH surge is detected and the day after. Your 2 most fertile days begin from the time that  David One Step semi-quantitative ovulation test detects your LH surge. Make love at any time during the following 48 hours to maximise your chance of becoming pregnant.

PRINCIPLE
The test is a lateral flow chromatographic immunoassay. The test utilizes a combination of antibodies including a monoclonal LH antibody to selectively detect elevated levels of LH. The test strip include:(1) a conjugate pad containing anti-βLH antibody coupled to colloidal gold, and(2) nitrocellulose membrane containing a test line (T line) and a control line (C line).
When the absorbent end is immersed into a sample, the sample is absorbed into the device by capillary action and mixes with the antibody-dye conjugate. The complex migrates along the membrane to the mouse anti-α-LH antibody test region (T), and remains captured in the T line.

SPECIMEN COLLECTION AND PREPARATION
When to do this test?
You can use the pregnancy test from the first day that you have not had your usual period, so from the first day of late menstruation. Note that it is better to wait a few days after the first day of absence of rules, this increases the accuracy of the pregnancy test. There are also so-called "early" tests that can be done a few days before the presumed start date of the rules.
It should be known that the earlier the test is performed and the lower the reliability. In addition, it is recommended to conduct a repeat test 5-7 days after the first test to confirm the result.
At what time of the day is it better to test?
1.Each urine specimen must be collected in a clean and dry container.   Do not mix specimens.
2.Specimens collected at any time of day may be used; however, the first morning urine generally contains the highest concentration of HCG and are recommended for early detection of pregnancy.
3.Fresh urine does not require any special pretreatment. Urine samples exhibiting visible precipitates should be filtered, centrifuged or allowed to settle, and clear aliquots are obtained for testing.
Specimen Storage
If the specimen is not to be tested immediately, it may be kept at room temperature for 8 hours or at 2ºC to 8ºC for up to 72 hours.  For prolonged storage, specimens may be frozen and stored below -20ºC or below. Do not refreeze. Frozen specimens should be fully thawed and mixed well before testing.
