General overview:
Fiber optic patch cords, defined by the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) as "passive components for stable, but not permanent, connection of two or more fibers" (CCITT Study Group VI was adopted in Geneva in March 1922).It is a device for detachable (active) connections between fiber and fiber.It precisely pairs the two end faces of the fiber to maximize the coupling of the optical energy output from the transmitting fiber to the receiving fiber and minimizes the impact on the system due to its involvement in the optical link.Optical fiber active connectors can be divided into common single-mode and multi-mode connectors of silicon-based fibers according to different transmission media, and other fiber-optic connectors such as plastics. According to the connection structure, it can be divided into various forms such as FC, SC, ST/LC/MTRJ/MPO/MU/SMA/FDDI/E2 000/DIN4/D4.

Single mode single core connector SC/APC:
The SC connector is a plug-in connector based on a single-pin plug and adapter.It features a rectangular structure and an elastic clip locking mechanism, including a coupling pin and a pin that is elastic in the direction of the optical axis.The pin has a typical outer diameter of 2.500 mm; the plug has a plug-in switch that can be used as a limit for the positioning and position of the connector and the mating component.The light centering device of the connector is a rigid inner bore or an elastomeric sleeve.

The pigtail uses a single-mode fiber optic connector called the SC-type single-mode fiber optic connector, and the pigtail uses a multimode fiber optic connector called the SC-type multimode fiber optic connector.An optical connector with a spherical end face is called an SC/PC type optical fiber movable connector, and a fiber connector with a beveled end face is called an SC/APC type optical fiber movable connector.

The standard connector is a precision manufactured or selected connector that includes a standard plug and a standard adapter for use as a reference for measuring the optical performance of the connector, so it has higher dimensional tolerance requirements.
The standard plug has the same interface device as the general plug interface, mainly because the pin body of the plug has higher precision, and its requirements are as follows:
·Pin body outer diameter: 2.2490±0.0003mm;
·Coaxial tolerance of Fiber core and pin body: <0.3µm;
·Angle tolerance between fiber and pin body: <0.2°;
·Pin body convex spherical degree of offset vertices: <30µm;

Optical performance specifications allowed for SC type single mode connector plugs:
·Insertion loss of either plug through standard adapter and standard plug≤0.35dB(Repeatability);Return loss>4OdB (SC/ PC), >60dB (SC/APC).
·Insertion loss of any two plugs connected≤0.5dB;Return loss>35dB (SC/PC); >58dB (SC/APC).
·SC type adapter or socket allows loss relative to two standard plugs<0.2dB (Single mode), <0.ldB (Multimode).
·The operating temperature of the SC type optical connector is: -25ºC~+70ºC.
