I. Description
Asphalt penetration is one of the main quality indicators of asphalt. It is an index that indicates the softness and consistency of the asphalt, the ability to resist shear failure, and reflects the relative viscosity of the asphalt under certain conditions. At 25°C and 5 seconds, under a load of 100 grams, the penetration depth of the standard cone perpendicular to the asphalt sample is the penetration, in units of 1/10 mm.
