Lycium chinense Miller is a genus of wolfberry in the family Solanaceae. The genus Lycium is the collective name for the commercial Lycium, the plant Ningxia Lycium and the Chinese Lycium. Most of the wolfberries that people consume and use medicinally are the fruit of the Ningxia wolfberry, the "wolfberry". The Ningxia wolfberry has the largest cultivation area in China and is mainly found in the northwest of the country. The common varieties in other regions are the Chinese wolfberry and its variants. The Ningxia Zhongning wolfberry was awarded the national climate label in the category of climatic quality of agricultural products.
