EN8M is a medium carbonated engineering structural steel, also known as 0.4C8 steel or EN8DM steel. It is an improved version of EN8 steel with higher strength and corrosion resistance.
EN8M steel has a carbon content of about 0.40%, which is slightly higher than ordinary EN8 steel. This carbon content gives EN8M steel a high strength and hardness. In addition, it also contains a certain amount of manganese and sulfur, which improves its processability and corrosion resistance.
EN8M steel is usually produced by hot rolling or heat treatment to obtain the desired mechanical properties. It can achieve higher strength and toughness through proper heat treatment.
Common areas of application include the manufacture of bearings, gears, connecting rods, machine tool parts, transmission parts and important mechanical structures. Due to its high strength and excellent corrosion resistance, EN8M steel is widely used in a variety of engineering applications requiring high strength and durability.
