The Kapton Polyimide tape is derived from a polyimide film coated with high-performance silicone adhesive on one or both sides. This heat-resistant polyimide tape is capable of being used within a wide temperature range of -260°F (-452°C) to 500°F (260°C). It finds applications in high-temperature operations such as safeguarding printed circuit boards during wave soldering or reflow soldering, SMT surface mounting, transformer manufacturing, and securing the positive and negative electrodes and terminals in lithium batteries. It has been widely adopted in the aerospace, aviation, marine, spacecraft, missile, rocket, atomic energy, electrical, and electronic industries.
With its very thin and flexible carrier film, Kapton tape can be used to protect circuit boards during wave soldering or reflow soldering, or as electrical insulation components for capacitors and transformers packaging. It is well-known for high-temperature masking in the powder coating industry. Polyimide tape can be combined with other materials such as aluminum foil, copper foil, and glass cloth to create different functionalities and suitable for various industries.
