Vinyl chloride homopolymer and vinyl chloride copolymer are collectively called vinyl chloride resin.
PVC is an amorphous structure of white powder, small degree of branching, relative density of 1.4 or so, the glass transition temperature of 77 ~ 90 ºC, 170 ºC or so began to decompose, the stability of light and heat is poor, above 100 ºC or after a long period of exposure to sunlight, it will decompose and produce hydrogen chloride, and further autocatalytic decomposition, causing discoloration, physical and mechanical properties also decline rapidly, in practical applications must add Stabilizers must be added to improve the stability of heat and light.
Industrial production of PVC molecular weight is generally in the range of 50,000 ~ 110,000, with a large polydispersity, molecular weight increases with the decrease in polymerization temperature; no fixed melting point, 80 ~ 85 ºC began to soften, 130 ºC into a viscoelastic state, 160 ~ 180 ºC began to change into a viscous flow state; have good mechanical properties, tensile strength of 60MPa or so, the impact strength of 5 ~ 10kJ / m2; there are Excellent dielectric properties.
01 Composition
Polyvinyl chloride (PVC) is a polymer material that uses a chlorine atom to replace a hydrogen atom in polyethylene and is an amorphous polymer containing a small amount of crystalline structure. The structure of this material is as follows: [-CH2-CHCl-]n. PVC is a linear polymer in which most of the VCM monomers are linked in a head-tail structure. The carbon atoms are arranged in a sawtooth pattern and all atoms are linked by σ-bonds. All carbon atoms are sp3 hybridized.
02 Main classifications
According to the different applications, PVC can be divided into: general-purpose PVC resins, high polymerization PVC resins, and cross-linked PVC resins. General-purpose PVC resin is formed by the polymerization of vinyl chloride monomer under the action of an initiator; high polymerization PVC resin refers to the resin polymerized by adding a chain growth agent to the vinyl chloride monomer polymerization system; crosslinked PVC resin is the resin polymerized by adding a cross-linking agent containing dienophthalic and polypropylene to the vinyl chloride monomer polymerization system.
According to the vinyl chloride monomer to obtain the method to distinguish, can be divided into calcium carbide method, ethylene method and imported (EDC, VCM) monomer method (customary ethylene and imported monomer method collectively referred to as the ethylene method). According to the polymerization method, PVC can be divided into four major categories: suspension method of PVC, emulsion method of PVC, the body method of PVC, solution method of PVC.
Suspension polyvinyl chloride is the largest production of a variety, accounting for about 80% of the total output of PVC. Suspension PVC is divided into six models according to absolute viscosity: XS-1, XS-2......XS-6; XJ-1, XJ-2......, XJ-6.

According to the amount of plasticizer content, often PVC plasticene plastic is divided into: non-plasticized PVC, plasticizer content of 0; rigid PVC, plasticizer content of less than 10%; semi-rigid PVC, plasticizer content of 10-30%; soft PVC, plasticizer content of 30-70%; polyvinyl chloride paste plastics, plasticizer content of 80% or more.
