Drive sockets are an essential tool for anyone working on cars, trucks, or other automobiles. They allow you to easily loosen and tighten nuts and bolts, making repairs and maintenance much simpler.
A drive socket fits onto a ratchet, breaker bar, or other drive tool on one end and grips the head of a bolt or nut on the other end. The "drive" end has a square hole that fits snugly onto the matching square drive of the tool, ensuring the torque from the handle is transferred efficiently to the socket. The other end of the socket has six or twelve splines that fit precisely around the hexagonal or twelve-point head of whatever fastener you are trying to loosen or tighten.
Drive sockets come in sets of varying sizes, typically measured in millimeters or inches, so you have the right socket ready for any nut or bolt on your vehicle. Shallow and deep sockets allow access to fasteners in tight spaces or recessed areas. Extensions can be added to reach even further into cramped engine compartments and wheel wells.
