Vanadium additive
Carvan Vanadium
A high carbon vanadium iron additive used for steel and vanadium containing alloys, consisting of V83% to 86%, C10.5% to 13%, and Fe2% to 3%. Car van vanadium briquettes are packaged in bags, each containing 25 pounds of vanadium and 3.7 pounds of carbon, and can be directly added to the furnace or ladle for use without further analysis. When nitrogen is introduced into the furnace during the sintering process of vanadium carbon oxygen and graphite compacts, Nitrovan vanadium can be produced, which contains V78% -82%, C11% -12%, and N2 ≥ 6.0%.
Vanadium aluminum alloy
Vanadium additive used in the production of titanium alloys such as Ti-6A1-4V. According to the vanadium content, it is divided into 50%, 65%, and 85% grades, with the remaining amount being aluminum. As an additive used in vacuum smelting, it is often marked with "VQ" (vacuum quality). Vanadium aluminum alloy has a low gas content, and other impurities such as Fe, Si, C, B must meet the requirements of titanium alloy.

Product Application

Vanadium iron is a rare metal widely used in traditional fields such as bleaching, painting, and papermaking. The processed titanium is used in aerospace, military, and other fields.

Production
Production of vanadium pentoxide from vanadium titanium magnetite
Vanadium titanium magnetite is reduced with coke in a blast furnace (or electric furnace) to obtain vanadium containing pig iron.

Aluminothermic method
The heat generated by reducing vanadium pentoxide with aluminum is quite large (4577kJ/kg mixture), which can not only complete the aluminothermic smelting process, but also add vanadium iron debris to reduce the reaction temperature.

The smelting process is carried out in two steps. The first step is the reduction period, where vanadium oxide is reduced with silicon iron and aluminum to obtain vanadium silicon iron alloy with high silicon content; The second step is the refining period, using slag with high V2O5 to refine vanadium silicon iron alloy, reducing silicon and obtaining vanadium iron.

Nature
The atomic weight of vanadium is 50. 9414, and the outer electronic structure is 3d4s. Melting point 1902 ºC. Boiling point 3410 ºC. The density is 6.1g/cm (20 ºC). Vanadium is a malleable metal. The phase diagram of the binary system of vanadium and iron is shown in the left figure. Vanadium forms a continuous solid solution with iron. And form intermetallic compounds at temperatures below 1210 ºC and within the range of V35% to 55% α (FeV) phase.
