Operating characteristics
From the results of the use of nanoscale zirconium silicate in the production of ceramics and functional materials, it can be seen that it has the following characteristics.
(1) Zirconium silicate, as an additive for ceramic glaze, improves its whiteness, strength, wear resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and corrosion resistance as the particle size decreases within a certain range, enhancing its self-cleaning ability and reducing its dosage.
(2) Due to the strong hydrolysis resistance of nanoscale zirconium silicate powder, it can be used as a carrier for nano functional powders in an aqueous environment.
(3) Due to the strong oxidation resistance of nanoscale zirconium silicate, it can be used as a surface coating agent for functional powders.
(4) Due to the high strength and good wear resistance of nanoscale zirconium silicate powder, it is a high-quality grinding medium and engineering ceramic raw material.
The raw sand for zirconia silicate is zircon, while the main raw sand for high-grade zirconia silicate in China is high-quality Australian zircon sand. It is not yet clear whether the sand source in the United States is stable, while South African sand has a higher hardness and slightly higher impurity content. Vietnam sand and South China Sea sand also have high-quality sand, and the stability of the sand source is still a problem. In actual production, it is required to homogenize the raw materials. For zirconium silicate production enterprises, as long as they use high-quality zircon sand produced by large Australian sand mining companies and undergo strict testing when entering the factory, there is basically no need for homogenization, as these raw materials have already been homogenized in large mining companies.
With a high refractive index of 1.93-2.01 and chemical stability, it is a high-quality and cost-effective opacifier widely used in the production of various building ceramics, sanitary ceramics, daily ceramics, first-class handicraft ceramics, etc. In the processing and production of ceramic glaze, it has a wide range of use and a large amount of application. The reason why zirconium silicate is widely used in ceramic production is also because of its good chemical stability, which is not affected by the sintering atmosphere of ceramics, and can significantly improve the bonding performance of ceramics and glaze, and increase the hardness of ceramic glaze surface. Zirconium silicate has also been further applied in the production of color picture tubes in the television industry, emulsified glass in the glass industry, and enamel glaze. Zirconium silicate has a high melting point of 2500 degrees Celsius, making it widely used in refractory materials, zirconium ramming materials for glass kilns, castables, and spray coatings.
