Technology and trends
High Performance Seals
As wheel bearings are very close to the ground and high temperature brake discs and other parts, they need to adapt to various complex road conditions and harsh driving environments. Therefore, the bearing seals must have good grease leakage resistance, and must also have good heat resistance, mud and sewage resistance.
Lightweight and miniaturization
The second and third generation wheel bearing structures are designed with finite element analysis to reduce the size and weight of the flange as much as possible while ensuring sufficient rigidity of the flange. The weight of the axle is reduced through integration and miniaturization, and the second generation wheel bearing is 180g lighter than the first generation, while the third generation wheel bearing is further reduced by 120g.
Low friction torque
An important measure to reduce the fuel consumption of automobiles is to design wheel bearings with low frictional torque, and the main factors affecting the frictional torque of bearings are the type of bearings and preload, and the frictional torque caused by bearing seals accounts for a large proportion of the components. Therefore, improving the seal design to reduce the frictional torque can significantly improve the performance of wheel bearings.
