Difluoromethane is a coolant with zero ozone depletion potential. Methane difluoride and pentafluoroethane produce a constant boiling mixture (called R-410A) that is used as a replacement for chlorofluorocarbons (also known as Freon) in new coolant systems, primarily replacing HCFC-22 as a refrigerant blend for compounding medium to low temperatures.
