The standard type box gabion shall be made from flexible hot dip galvanized wire mesh.
Mesh Form: Twist Weave Wire Mesh
The mesh shall be hexagonal woven mesh of the type 8 X 10 cm with the Joins formed by twisting each pair of wires through three half turns.
Wire
The wire used in the fabrication of the gabions and in the wiring operation during, construction shall be in accordance with BS 1052:1980 "Mild steel wire" having an average tensile strength of 360-520 N/mm². These values refer to the wire before fabrication of the netting. The diameter of the wire used in the fabrication of the netting shall not be less than 2.7 mm.
