The Production Process of Sodium Hyaluronate
 
The production process of sodium hyaluronate is a complex and multi-step process involving fermentation, precipitation, filtration, and drying. The final product is a high-purity powder that can be used in various applications, from skincare products to medical treatments.



Preparation of Fermentation Medium: The fermentation medium is prepared by dissolving glucose and yeast powder in water and adding magnesium sulfate and sodium hydroxide. The solution is sterilized by autoclaving to ensure no bacteria or other contaminants are present.

Fermentation: The sterilized fermentation medium is then inoculated with a hyaluronic acid-producing bacterial strain, and the fermentation process can proceed for several days. During this time, the bacteria convert the glucose in the medium into hyaluronic acid monomers through metabolic conversion. The bacteria grow and multiply, producing more and more hyaluronic acid.

Precipitation and Centrifuge Separation: Once the fermentation process is complete, the hyaluronic acid is harvested from the broth. This is done by adding a salt solution to the broth, which causes the hyaluronic acid to precipitate out of the solution. The precipitated hyaluronic acid is then separated from the broth by centrifugation.

Crude Polymer Sodium Hyaluronate: The resulting material is a crude polymer of sodium hyaluronate, which still contains impurities and other substances. This material is dissolved in water and filtered to remove any remaining particulates or contaminants.

Twice-Precipitation: The filtered solution of sodium hyaluronate is then subjected to a process known as twice-precipitation.
