What is Folic acid?
Folic acid is a water-soluble vitamin named for its rich content in green leaves, also known as pteroylglutamic acid. There are several forms of existence in nature, and its parent compound is composed of pteridine, p-aminobenzoic acid, and glutamic acid. Folic acid plays an important role in protein synthesis, cell division, and growth and promotes the formation of normal red blood cells. When it is lacking, it can reduce the production of hemoglobin in red blood cells, block cell maturation, and lead to megaloblastic anemia.Condensation: Firstly, a chemical reaction is carried out to synthesize the condensation product of para-aminobenzoic acid (PABA) and glutamic acid. This condensation product undergoes a series of reactions and processing steps to ultimately form the structural framework of folic acid.
