1, 2-propylene glycol is an organic compound with the chemical formula C3H8O2. It is miscible with water, ethanol and various organic solvents. Normal for colorless viscous liquid, almost tasteless, fine smell slightly sweet. Propylene glycol can be used as a raw material for unsaturated polyester resins and as a wetting agent in combination with glycerin or sorbitol in cosmetics, toothpastes and soaps. It is used as a moisture conditioner and hair leveller in hair dye, as an antifreeze, and in the cellophane, plasticizer and pharmaceutical industries.
