Brief introduction

Vitamin K2, also known as menadione, is a fat soluble vitamin and one of the essential vitamins for the human body. In the human body, vitamin K2 is mainly synthesized by gut bacteria and is also present in some animal meat products and fermented products, such as animal liver, fermented dairy products, and cheese. Among them, the most abundant source is natto. As γ- Vitamin K2, a cofactor of glutamine carboxylase, can activate a variety of vitamin K dependent proteins and plays a key role in cardiovascular and bone health.

Physiological functions and effects

(1) Anti osteoporosis. The function of vitamin K2 is to activate matrix osteocalcin. Under the action of vitamin K2, the activation of matrix osteocalcin forms many calcium binding sites on the protein, which can bind to calcium entering the bone. After the active site is combined with the calcium ions entering the bone, the physiological osteogenesis process is completed, so that the human skeleton is hard and can support weight. If there is a lack of vitamin K2, matrix osteocalcin cannot be activated, calcium cannot bind to osteocalcin, and bone cannot truly form, leading to calcium loss. The lost calcium enters many other organs of the body and deposits in them, leading to calcification and causing many diseases. Therefore, vitamin K2 is of special importance for calcium fixation in bones and osteoporosis.

(2) Improve dental health. One of the main regulatory proteins for dental health is osteocalcin, which is a crucial protein for bone metabolism and can be activated by vitamin K2. Dentin is the calcified tissue beneath the enamel on teeth, and osteocalcin can trigger the mechanism of stimulating the growth of new dentin.

(3) Helps fight cancer. Vitamin K2 can negatively regulate tyrosine kinase and phosphatase activity related to cell carcinogenesis, as well as regulate regulatory factors related to cell proliferation, ultimately leading to the inhibition of tumor growth by the cell cycle of tumor cells.

(4) Improve diabetes. Vitamin K2 can upregulate [i] genes and promote pancreatic islets β Cells can release [i], which can improve the metabolic level of the body and help patients with diabetes recover.
