The scientific name of butyl hydrazide is N-dimethylamino butyramic acid, and the common name is daminozide. It is a white crystal with a melting point of 154 to 156°C. It is soluble , but insoluble in lower hydrocarbons. It is prepared by the reaction of succinic anhydride and dimethylhydrazine.
