Hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin, Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin are purified polydisperse products resulting from the controlled reaction of and native beta-cyclodextrin. Hydroxypropyl beta-cyclodextrin is itself very soluble in water (greater than 500 mg/ml at room temperature compared to 18 mg/ml for beta-cyclodextrin), and is used for molecular encapsulation of a variety of sparingly water compounds to enhance the aqueous solubility of the encapsulated compound.

Hydroxypropyl Beta Cyclodextrin can prevent evaporation of volatile substances maintaining the stability of its nutrients, get rid of the terrible smell and can significantly enhance the effects of emulsification with the combined use of food emulsifiers. Hydroxypropyl Beta Cyclodextrincan also make preservative of food release slowly, raise the effect of anti-corrosion and extend the shelf life of food.
